The metal sludge containing copper and nickel produced after waste treatment in electroplating, electronics and other industries has complex composition and easy pollution, which has great harm to human and ecological environment. With the continuous improvement of China's environmental treatment requirements, how to reduce, harmless, resource-based treatment of such sludge has become the focus of environmental treatment industry research.

Wuxi Jiangfeng Resource Recycling Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangfeng Company") was established in 1996, the company is located in the industrial concentration area of Xushe Town, Yixing City, the main business is: copper, nickel metal sludge resource utilization. The company has a copper and nickel sludge drying, sintering, smelting and copper extraction production line and supporting environmental protection facilities, which can recover copper, nickel, precious metals and other valuable recycled metals in copper sludge on a large scale.

Due to the early construction time of Jiangfeng Company, the original production equipment and supporting environmental protection facilities have gradually been unable to steadily meet the environmental protection requirements of the increasing upgrading of standards, so after the wholly-owned acquisition of Jiangfeng Company by Xinsu Environmental Protection Industry Group, the environmental protection safety and quality improvement project was immediately prepared. The project plans to invest nearly 70 million yuan to upgrade the original sintering system, melting system, flue gas treatment system, sewage treatment system and public auxiliary facilities. It aims to achieve ultra-low emission of flue gas, waste water, and initial rainwater after treatment for production to meet the "zero emission" requirements, improve the mechanization, automation level and safety performance of system equipment, improve the working environment, improve and enhance the online monitoring and management of "three wastes" treatment, etc., as a whole, Jiangfeng Company's production equipment performance and internal management level of enterprises have taken a big step forward to modern enterprises.

The technical transformation project will be filed in Yixing Administrative Examination and Approval Bureau in 2020 and the project preparation work will be carried out, and Wuxi Xuelang Environmental Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Xuelang Environment") will be entrusted to carry out the EPC general contracting work.

At the beginning of the preparation of the project, considering that the raw materials for resource utilization of the project are mostly from electroplating, electronics and other industries in the province. Due to the different processes and raw materials used by various enterprises, the composition of the produced metal-containing sludge varies greatly. Xuelang Environment and Jiangfeng Company dispatched technical personnel to form two joint technical groups, and the technical group one personnel organized visits and investigations to most electroplating and electronic waste production enterprises in the province, investigated the sludge production process and composition of waste production enterprises, and took samples and tests to understand the demand for sludge disposal of waste production enterprises.

In the inspection of waste production enterprises at the same time, the second technical group is responsible for the inspection of nearly 10 domestic enterprises that deal with copper and nickel sludge, and carefully understand the process technology route, technical and economic indicators, advanced equipment, "three wastes" treatment, operating costs, defects and so on.

After nearly 1 month of visits and investigations, the final snow wave environment successfully mastered the first-hand information of metal-containing sludge, and immediately organized the joint technical team to demonstrate the process plan according to the raw material situation of Jiangfeng Project and finally decided to adopt: The main process route of sludge drying - granulation - roasting - melting, and according to the flue gas characteristics of roasting and melting, the flue gas purification process route is creatively formulated which is different from that of peers.

At the end of 2020, Xuelang Environment led the organization of the launch meeting of Jiangfeng Company's technical transformation project, and the general manager of Xuelang Environment New Industry Development Center clarified the job responsibilities of project managers, design managers, technical leaders, procurement managers, and made work arrangements for the project promotion plan. At this point, the technical transformation project of Jiangfeng Company began to be carried out in full swing.

In early January 2021, the civil construction blueprint was delivered and technical and safety disclosure was organized, and civil construction units entered the construction site operation; In early June, the civil engineering was delivered and installed, and all kinds of equipment entered the site to start installation and construction; Under the close cooperation of the snow wave environment and Jiangfeng Company, the personnel of the participating units cooperated with each other and carried out the project construction step by step, not afraid of the cold and heat, and completed the project construction according to the original construction plan in the middle of September of the same year.

The main construction contents of the technical transformation project according to the design plan include:

The first is to transform the original dryer batching bin, eliminate the landing of raw materials, and improve the on-site working environment; Upgrade the original dry waste gas treatment and purification system to achieve ultra-low emission requirements.

The second is to dismantle the existing sintering machine, build a new countercurrent baking furnace, and replace the closed feeding belt conveyor and granulation system.

The third is to remove the original low automation, poor tightness of the side blowing environmental protection furnace, a new smelting side blowing furnace, and supporting a high degree of automation of the instrument control system.

The fourth is to remove the original "multi-tube dust removal + electric dust removal + spray flue + alkali spray" device of the sintering system, and build a new "cyclone dust removal + slaked lime jet + bag dust collector +RTO+SCR denitrification + catalyst dioxin removal +GGH heat exchanger + lime-gypsum wet desulfurization + wet electric fog removal" device.

The fifth is to remove the original "lye spray + cyclone dust removal" device of the side-blowing environmental protection furnace system, build a new "settling chamber + surface cooler + slaking lime spray + bag dust collector +RTO+ dioxin catalyst reaction tower + lime-gypsum wet desulfurization" device, and build a new environmental dust collection system.

The sixth is to dismantle the original sewage treatment equipment, and build a new wastewater treatment process of "comprehensive regulation + secondary coagulation and precipitation +MVR+MBBR+ reverse osmosis combination process" to treat production wastewater and initial rainwater, in order to achieve all production wastewater reuse and zero discharge.

The technical transformation project of Jiangfeng Company was successfully put into trial operation at one time in September 2021. As the project is a transformation project, during the trial operation period, the transformation content and investment budget will be increased according to the production needs. By early May 2022, the transformation project will be put into operation. The environmental emission data is far better than the emission standard requirements; 100% of the production wastewater in the factory is reused for production after treatment, truly realizing "zero discharge"; The slag produced after sludge smelting has formed a highly vitrified state and can be used as resources. The technological route adopted in this project has the advantages of stability, reliability and low cost.

The successful implementation and operation of the technical transformation project of Jiangfeng Company has achieved the purpose of resource utilization of copper-containing sludge, and ensured that the "three wastes" meet the standards and meet the development requirements of "green production, green transformation" and "resource disposal and utilization".
